Starting over

One of the great challenges in life is gaining a full head of steam to accomplish something, only to be blocked by an obstacle. It could be financial, physical health, relational, or loss of previously planned resources. I think of the times my team was running full speed only to find one member was going to leave and move on, When the workload was heavy, losing a team member could be crushing.

And I couldn't count the number of times I began a new weightlifting program or other exercise, only to have some other part of my body rebel and stop me in my tracks.

The key at that moment is finding a way to 'use what you have'. If my shoulder hurts, work on the cardio. If the knee is shot, work on the core. One way or the other, I needed to regroup and find a way to use my energy and time.

Simply stopping everything because of a setback is always tempting, but it won't last. Human energy needs to be spent and with a little ingenuity, we can always find a way.
