Sustenance - body, mind, and soul

jgbohn2022

The aroma of a roast in the oven tells us we shall soon take in sustenance. Physical sustenance is the bedrock of our existence for if our body fails, we shall perish. How wonderful that we are able to enjoy the blessings of food to refresh ourselves and strengthen our bodies. Throughout our lives we eat thousands of meals to sustain physical life. The creativity of flavors and tastes are an example of great grace to humanity.

The inspiration we receive from a book is sustenance. To fill our minds with things grand and glorious, enriching the mind with more knowledge, more insight, more facts. The effort we take to fill our minds with new thoughts and awareness is worth our struggle. The fire of knowledge in our minds is a great grace to humanity. It is also an endless quest for more.

But it is the feeding of the soul that takes us to the highest levels. To fill our souls gives us motivation to overcome even our physical appetites and to minimize our knowledge. For the soul speaks to God and it is in speaking to Him that we receive ultimate sustenance. Filling the soul includes reading and meditating on Scripture. Filling the soul comes through prayer and worship. For the body will die, and the mind and brain will fade, but the soul will live forever. The pure immaterial soul is our home through eternity, a great grace to humanity.
